Biography

After graduating with highest marks and honors at the Conservatory A. Steffani of Castelfranco Veneto (Italy), he specialized in Harpsichord, Basso Continuo and in The Netherlands with Johan Hofmann and after at Chigiana Academy in Siena, Italy, with Christophe Rousset. With thousands of concerts in Europe and North and South America and Asia, Alberto is an acclaimed soloist and conductor, playing also with many early music groups, including Contrarco Baroque Ensemble, Venice Baroque Orchestra, Opera Stravagante. He is regularly invited to Early Music Festivals like Alte Musik Live Berlin, Bayreuth Baroque, Urbino Musica Antica, Grandezze e Meraviglie, Musikfest Kreuth, Wunderkammer, Mozarteum Argentino, Biennale Musica Venezia, working with important artists such as Alfredo Bernardini, Sara Mingardo, Mario Brunello, Stefano Montanari, Enrico Bronzi, Anna Fusek, Fabio Biondi, Federico Guglielmo, Maddalena del Gobbo, Michael Radulescu, Filippo Maria Bressan, Gabriele Cassone and many others.

Alberto Busettini is a highly-regarded soloist, performing often on original instruments like the Walter harpsichord in Tolmezzo, Italy, and in Paris on the anonymous instrument ravalée by Joseph Collesse in 1748, which Alberto played on several occasions in France and Italy. He also was invited to play in Harpsichord Collections like the Russell's Collection in Edinburgh, Musikinstrumenten Museum Berlin, St. Colombano in Bologna and Brandywine Baroque in Wilmington, Delaware. As harpsichordist Alberto cooperates with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, conducted by Andrea Marcon, and also as “maestro di sala” for the Early and Baroque Music Projects and Operas in the Gran Teatro La Fenice, Venice. From more than 15 years he is maestro al cembalo, and now project coordinator, in the Junges MusikPodium Dresden-Venedig Project, with masterclasses and concerts in Italy and Germany. As Maestro al Cembalo he conducted opera like L’Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi, Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell, many Italian Intermezzos like Pimpinone by T. Albinoni or La Serva Padrona by G. B. Pergolesi. He is regularly invited by Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia to conduct Bach Cantatas. Alberto Busettini has conducted and worked as a vocal coach since he was a teenager. After years spent in choir direction with professional and youth choirs, from 2023 he has been appointed as one of the “maestri” of the prestigious Friuli Venezia Giulia Choir.

Since 2017 he has been Artistic Director of Festival Risonanze. Alberto Busettini teaches harpsichord and basso continuo at the Fondazione Musicale Santa Cecilia of Portogruaro, Venice. In 2023 he will perform recitals and concerts in the USA, Europe and Asia.
